Sonya Garrett named 2021-2022 Administrator of the Year!

Sonya Garrett is the principal of Poplarville Lower Elementary. She came to this position in 2019 after serving two years as assistant principal at the school. Before coming to PLE, she taught 23 years at Poplarville Junior High and Middle School of Poplarville as a teacher and librarian.

PLE serves over 450 students in grades K,1,2.  The school has over 55 employees who work hard each day to achieve its vision. “I want parents to trust PLE is the best place to take care of their child’s hearts, minds, and bodies. This is a big team of knowledgeable, caring, and hardworking employees that works together to educate our community’s children.”

Sonya has a Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership from William Carey University and has completed the NISL (National Institute for School Leadership) Executive Development Program.

Sonya graduated from Poplarville High School in 1989. She is married to Brad Garrett, MBI Captain of Mississippi’s Southern Region. Together, they have three children  – Clay Garrett (24), Rhett Garrett (19), and Ravyn Garrett (19).
