Poplarville High School faculty and staff have cast their votes and elected Ann Bosworth as the 2017-2018 Teacher of the Year. This is Mrs. Bosworth’s 29th year at Poplarville High School and her 24th year serving as the Student Services Coordinator at the Career Development Center. In all those years, she has helped many students achieve success, sometimes kicking and screaming (and the kids sometimes resisted also), whether it was academically, career oriented, or through community service.
One thing she is known for is establishing the Cat Pack as a student organization on campus approximately 20 years ago. It all started with her desire to help spay and neuter all the feral cats in the community in order to reduce overpopulation. The efforts of the Cat Pack have made a tremendous impact in our little town.
In addition, she has been the co-advisor for the National Technical Honor Society in the CDC as well as maintained her bus driver license in order to assist with field trips to various events. Unfortunately, Mrs. Bosworth plans to retire at the end of this school year, and I am certain that we will have no idea just what all she did do for the students and faculty at Poplarville High School and especially the Career Development Center. Congratulations, Mrs. Bosworth. This award could not have gone to a more deserving teacher and friend.
