SOCCER

Last Tuesday, January 28, Poplarville’s high school boys soccer team traveled to St. Stanislaus to participate in a playoff game for the Boy Soccer Championships. With support from our community, the boys put up a tough fight but came up short with a score of 1-7. As the soccer season ends, we would like to say congratulations to both the boys and girls soccer team for giving it their all and making PHS proud. 

BASKETBALL

On January 31st our Poplarville High School Basketball teams played at Stone. In a tight grip match both our boys and girls could not pass Stone resulting in a final score of 53-62 for the boys and 32-56 for our girls. For their upcoming game, the teams will travel to Greene county on Tuesday, February 4. All girl games start at 6:00 and the boys begin at 7:30.

ARCHERY

The Poplarville High School archery team will begin this year’s season this Thursday, February 6th. They will be competing at home against Union at 5:00pm.

BASEBALL

Baseball season for Poplarville High School is beginning soon! The varsity baseball team will start off their season by playing a Green & Gold game at home on Saturday, February 8th. The time that this game will take place will be announced later this week. They will also play at home in the St. Pats Jamboree on Saturday, February 15th at 5:00pm.

RODEO

On 1/31/2020, The Poplarville High School Rodeo Team traveled to Columbia, MS and competed in the MJHSRA I Rodeo. Listed below are the team members that placed in the top ten:

Bareback Riding: Hunter Norris finished in first place

Breakaway Roping: Brooke Ladner finished in fifth place with a time of 2.720 and ended with 6.00 points.

Bull Riding: Brennan Bonvillian finished in second place and Will Smith finished in fifth place.

Goat Tying: Katelyn Blackmon came in sixth place with a time of 10.672 and ended with 5.00 points. Brooke Ladner came in 8th place with a time of 11.039 and finished with 3.00 points.

Pole Bending: Katelyn Blackmon finished in second place with a time of 21.542 and came up with 9.00 points.

Steer Wrestling: Gavin Lee finished in first place with a time of 4.855 and came up with 10.00 points. Kason Davis finished in tenth place.

Team Roping: Kason Davis and Bryce Graves finished in first place with a time of 4.722 and came up with 10.00 points.

Tie Down Roping: Bryce Graves finished in second place with a time of 11.460 and came up with 9.00 points. Mason Theriot finished in fourth place with a time of 13.547 and came up with 7.00 points.
