Poplarville CDC Celebrates CTE Month

The students and staff at the Poplarville Career Development Center (CDC) will join others across the nation during the month of February to celebrate national Career and Technical Education (CTE) month.  This year’s theme is Celebrate Today, Own Tomorrow!  CTE month provides CTE programs across the country an opportunity to demonstrate how CTE makes students college and career ready and prepares them for high-wage, high-demand career fields.

The CDC is hosting ninth grade tours on Thursday, February 15, 2024, featuring each of the pathway programs available.  Each program will have a presentation with current students and the instructor on hand. CTE month will wrap up with a cookout for all CDC students.

“We are excited to have the opportunity to highlight our programs and give students a chance to see what our center has to offer before scheduling for the 2024-2025 school year begins,” said Keri Smith, CTE Director.

Each of the programs is designed to promote hands-on learning and critical thinking skills. There are a variety of courses offered for students including agricultural science; business, marketing, and finance; culinary arts; digital media technology; health science; and work-based learning.

The Poplarville Career Development Center is dedicated to promoting learning and developing skills that students will use in college and in their careers.
