During the week of October 23-27, 2023, students at Poplarville Upper Elementary observed Red Ribbon Week. Red Ribbon Week is celebrated nationally each year in October to promote drug-free living. This week is dedicated to federal drug enforcement agent, Enrique Camerena, who was killed by drug traffickers in Mexico. Students and staff participated in theme days to promote awareness. P. U. E. also held a “We CAN Be Drug Free” food drive and turned it into a friendly classroom competition. Ms. Lakin Pace’s fourth-grade class won the competition, bringing in over 100 items. The food items were donated to Brother’s Keeper Ministries in Poplarville. Pictured is Ms. Pace and her students preparing to load up their donations!
