“I Voted: Making a Choice Makes a Difference” at PLE

On Tuesday, November 8th, Miss Seal’s first grade class learned about elections and what it means to vote! They read the book “I Voted: Making a Choice Makes a Difference” by Mark  Shullman. To follow up the lesson, they had their own class cookie election. Oreo vs. Chocolate Chip! Students made their own campaign posters describing why they were voting for their chosen cookie. When finished, they came to a voting booth to cast their vote and get an “I Voted Today” sticker.  When all votes were submitted, they counted and graphed the votes as a class. The winner was… Chocolate Chip!! They celebrated by having chocolate chip cookies!
