The students in Mrs. Gaynell Sones’s 7th grade Social Studies have been learning about the five themes of geography: location, region, place, movement, and human environment interaction. Students found evidence of the five themes in the book, The Lorax, by Dr. Seuss by applying the themes to the story. The students also developed an understanding of problems in society and ethics as it applies to the environment.
