On Wednesday, February 21, 2018, Carl Merritt Superintendent of Schools, Konya Miller, Assistant Superintendent, Sam Sandifer, Chief Financial Officer, Shannon Anderson, Special Populations Director, and Stephen Seal, Technology Coordinator traveled to Jackson to receive the Mississippi School Board Association’s Beacon Award for excellence.
The Beacon Award is given to “A” school districts each year who have earned an “A” grade as a district with no school being less than a “C.” This is the first time Poplarville School District has received the Beacon award. The district was one of only 13 school districts across the state to receive this award.
“All the teachers, staff, students, and the Poplarville community share in this great achievement. This is a special award for a special district,” said Merritt.
