Hornets Dominate in 1st Round 63-21

The Poplarville Hornets were excited to get the post season rolling on Friday night at Hornet Field and it showed.  The Hornets used a solid Defensive effort and an Offensive outburst that accumulated over 500 yards and 63 points.  The Hornet Offense was led by Junior Austin Bolton who carried the ball 13 times for 121 yards and 2 TDs.  Senior Jesse Pernell put up another steady performance with 12 carries for 114 yards and 3 TDs.  Sophomore Antonio Barnes threw the ball 8 times and completed 6 for 84 yards and a 38 yard TD pass to Tyson Holston.  Barnes has now thrown for 9 TD passes on the season.

The Hornets, who are on a 9 game winning streak, will continue on to Round 2 of the Playoffs and host Quitman at the Hornet’s Nest this Friday, November 11th at 7:00 p.m.
