Trio of Cowboys Take Top Place at Rodeo

The Poplarville High School Rodeo team traveled to Brookehaven, Mississippi to compete in the Lazy J Rodeo last weekend September 30th to October 1st.

The girls represented Poplarville in several categories: Senior Rachel Harris took 4th place in Breakaway Roping, while Rookie (Freshman) Brooke Ladner took 5th place in Goat Tying and 7th place in Pole Bending.  Rookie (Freshman) Victoria Ladner also clinched a top ten spot with 8th place in Barrel Racing!

A trio of PHS Rodeo Veterans, Ross Barnett, Pacey McBride and Chase Graves, took the top places in two prestigious categories.  

Ross Barnett took the 1st Place title in Calf Roping, while Chase Graves (3rd Place) and Pacey McBride (9th Place) kept PHS in the top 10.

Pacey McBride took the 1st Place title in Steer Wrestling, with Ross Barnett finished in 2nd Place and Chase Graves in 6th Place.

Poplarville was also on the board for the second week in a row in Team Roping.  Ross Barnett and partner came in 2nd Place.  Drew Howard and partner came in 5th Place. Rookies and previous first place winners, Kason Davis and Bryce Graves, came in 9th place.

The next rodeo will be October 21-October 22 in Purvis, Mississippi!
