Hornets to Honor 1976 Apache Conference Champions Friday Night

Poplarville High School will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Apache Championship with a pre-game ceremony Friday night.  The ceremony will pay tribute to the 1976 Poplarville Hornets that went 8-1-1 and won the Apache Conference.  The 1976 squad was coached by Pat Morris who was named 1976 Apache Conference Coach of the Year.  Coach Morris still holds many school records including most games coached (199), most wins (106), most state playoff appearances (6), most district titles (4) and is the winningest coach in school history with a record of 106-89-4.  The 1976 squad finished the season ranked 14th in the state by the Associated Press Prep Football Poll.  The ceremony will begin at 6:45 with kickoff scheduled for 7:00.  We would like to encourage all of the community and alumni to come out in support of the legendary squad and Coach Morris.
