PHS FAFSA Day Announced

SENIOR PARENTS:  SAVE THE DATE
PHS FAFSA DAY
MARCH 13, 2015
1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

As graduation approaches, seniors are making final decisions about college.  The toughest question for many is “How will I pay for tuition, books, expenses$$$$?  Will I have to make loans, or will I receive a grant or earn scholarships?”

The FIRST STEP:  Parents must complete the FAFSA
What is FAFSA?  It is the Federal Student Aid application that is required to determine eligibility for federal, state, and college-sponsored financial aid, including grants, educational loans, scholarships and work-study programs.  Parents must fill out a FAFSA online form each year whether receiving a scholarship or financial assistance.

To make this step easier for parents, we will have our 3rd Annual FAFSA DAY at Poplarville High. Get-2-College, a non-profit organization, will again assist parents with completing the application on March 13 between 1:00 pm – 6:00 pm. These folks are experts and, in most cases, the representative will complete the application in 15-20 minutes.  To make an appointment, parents should call 795-8343 or 601-795-1310. I will then send a card with the list of document necessary, a reminder of date / time of appointment, home by your child.  If you would like an appointment, call soon for a time that will fit in your busy schedule!

*TIP:  NEVER PAY FOR HELP WITH FAFSA!
Some students / parents have received phone calls, emails or websites asking $75 or $100 for help with college entrance or free college money.  PLEASE DO NOT PAY for college assistance!  If in doubt, call me or email:  dwilliamson@poplarvilleschools.org
