MS Approved for P-EBT Benefits for Those Receiving Free/Reduced School Lunches

Because COVID-19 closed our schools, your children may be eligible for food assistance, called Pandemic EBT (P-EBT): Emergency School Meals Program.

P-EBT provides families with funds to make up for the cost of meals while school was closed. This benefit is for children in Poplarville Schools who receive free or reduced-price school meals. These benefits will be on an Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card which is used like a debit card to buy groceries.

This program is administered by the Mississippi Department of Human Services (MDHS). The Mississippi Department of Education assisted in identifying eligible students through MSIS information. Should parents/guardians wish to update their information, such as address or contact number regarding P-EBT benefits, they must contact MDHS. Changes made at the school level or in MSIS now will not affect P-EBT. MDHS expects to have all cards issued to households within 6-7 weeks.
