PHS 2014 Hall of Fame

Each year seven students from Poplarville High School are selected for induction into the Student Hall of Fame. The selection is based on academic excellence, participation in campus and extracurricular activities, and citizenship. 
 
 
 

 
Samuel Shayne Bond

Samuel Shayne Bond is the 18 year old son of Shayne and Wendy Bond. He is also the brother of Aaron Bond and Lauren Sandifer. Samuel enjoys practicing martial arts and being a member of Olive Baptist’s youth group during his spare time.

Samuel is the Senior Vice President of the BETA Club, a varsity member of the Tennis Team, and a second degree black belt in Tang Soo Do. Samuel is an IHL completer.

Samuel plans to attend the University of Mississippi, where he will pursue a degree in an undecided major.
 
 

 
David Scott Davis II

David Scott Davis II is the son of David and Melissa Davis, and the brother of Ashleigh.

David has been a member of the marching band, Ocean Bowl, theatre, and Beta Club. He is a 3 year member of the Mississippi Lions All- State Band and has won an international championship in Hamburg in 2013. David has attended numerous band clinics, including Mississippi State and Ole Miss Honor bands. He was on the winning team at Regional Ocean Bowl competition in 2013 and traveled to nationals in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

David has kept a 4.0 GPA and will graduate in the top 10 of his class as an IHL completer.

David plans to attend Mississippi State University where he will be majoring in mechanical engineering and minoring in music.
 

 
Alex Kemp

Alex Kemp is the 18 year old son of Danny and Connie Kemp and the brother of Sara Kemp. Alex enjoys playing tennis and hanging out with friends in his spare time.

Alex has been a member of the varsity tennis team, representative of the Student Council, vice president of FBLA, president of TSA, historian of Beta Club, and a member of FFA. Alex was enrolled in the Computer Graphics and Technology program and is a CDC completer in addition to being an IHL completer. He is also the Valedictorian of the graduating class of 2014.

Alex plans to attend Mississippi State University, where he will major in Computer Engineering. Alex will live in Shackouls Honors College and become part of MSU’S prestigious co-op program.    
 

 
Hannah Kaitlyn Miller

Hannah Kaitlyn Miller is the 18 year old daughter of Russell and Konya Miller. Hannah has one brother, Reece Miller. Hannah enjoys working at Ramey’s and spending her leftover time with her friends and family. She is also a dual enrollment student at PRCC.

While attending PHS, Hannah has been a member of the Beta Club, serving as secretary, and the FFA. Hannah is a four year member of the Poplarville Band and Color Guard. She was elected co-captain her sophomore year and was captain her junior and senior years for the Color Guard.

Hannah plans to attend Pearl River Community College, where she will be majoring in nursing.
 

 
Stephen Patrick Mitchell

Stephen Patrick Mitchell is the 17 year old son of Timothy and Shelly Mitchell. He is the brother of Aaron, Benjamin, and Nathan Mitchell. He enjoys spending time with his family, especially his three brothers, and playing sports while being active. He has been a member of the Ocean Bowl Team since he was a freshman, and he has been captain of the team for two years. He has also been a member of the soccer team and basketball team for one year each. He has taken numerous AP and advanced classes, and he is an IHL completer. He plans to attend the University of Southern Mississippi in the fall, where he will be majoring in Marine Science to become an oceanographer.
 

 
Bryant Bailey Purvis

Bryant Bailey Purvis is the 18 year old daughter of Shawn Betbeze and John Purvis, and the sister of Shelby Purvis. While attending Poplarville High School, Bailey has been a member of FFA, Cat Pack, and HOSA. She is currently serving as secretary of the Student Council and President of the Beta Club; having been inducted her freshmen year.

On the all A Honor Roll throughout her 4 years at PHS; Bailey has also received inductions into the National Technical Honor Society and the National Society of High School Scholars.

Bailey received the Mississippi Studies Award her freshmen year, and as a junior, was selected to represent PHS and the tri-county area as an Electric Power Association of MS Youth Leader where she traveled to Jackson and Washington D.C.

During her 3 years on the Varsity Cheer Squad, Bailey was selected as a member of the PHS Cheerleader Scholar Athlete Team and the Universal Cheerleader Association (UCA) All American Cheer Team. She is Co-Captain of the PHS Varsity Cheer Squad.

Bailey is a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and is actively involved with fundraising for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital through HOSA. She is an IHL and CDC dual completer.

Bailey plans to attend MS Gulf Coast Community College and Ole’ Miss where, through her love of sports, she plans to major in either Sports Medicine or Sports Broadcasting.
 

 
Lorrie Cailin Warren

Lorrie Cailin Warren is the 18 year old daughter of Deborah Warren and the late Stanley Warren. She is also the sister of Kirsten Warren Worley and Jarrod Warren.  Lorrie enjoys dancing and hanging out with friends and family in her spare time.

Lorrie is a four-year member of the PHS Dance Team, and she served as captain for the past year. She has also been a member of the tennis team, Beta Club, and Student Council. Lorrie is enrolled in the Health Sciences program, and she is an IHL and a CDC completer.

Lorrie plans to attend Pearl River Community College for two years before transferring to Mississippi State University. Where she will be Majoring in Biological Sciences with a concentration in Pre-Medicine. She hopes to pursue a career as a pediatrician.
