Barnes Commits to PRCC

On April 8, 2016,Senior Craig Barnes, the son of Craig and Lisa Barnes signed a national letter of intent to play basketball for Pearl River Community College.

Craig, a 3 year starter, has played Center for the Poplarville Hornet Basketball Team for the past 6 years.  Craig was selected for District Best Defensive Player of the Year for the past two years, and was chosen for All District three years in a row.

The 6’8”, 190 pound senior finished out his high school basketball career with a total of 540 rebounds, 42 steals, 62 blocks and 34 assists.

Craig’s current basketball coach, Chareck Cable , boasted of his player saying, “Craig was a tremendous asset to the team.  Leading the team to a 20-10 record his senior year and advancing to the second round of the state play-offs, losing to then undefeated and 2x defending 4-A State Champion McComb High School.  Craig averaged 15 points and 12 rebounds”.

Craig states, “I’m very excited to see what my future at PRCC is going to be like.  I am also blessed to be receiving a full ride.  I am proud to say I am now a Wildcat”.
