Girls Basketball Improving with Each Game

The Lady Hornets stand at 1-6 so far this season.  Kenya Tillman leads in blocks, averaging 4 per game.  Monica Raine leads in rebounding with an average of 8 per game.  Jasmine Merrill leads in assists, averaging 7 per game.  Point Guard, Mallory Smith, leads the team in free throws with 86%.  Zanaisha Turner is the leading scorer.  Games have a point average of 48.  Newcomer rookies are freshmen- Angela Angulo, Zakia Jordan, Monica Raine, Jasmine Sharp and Junior Ellen Herrington.

Coach Cable is very proud of the Lady Hornets and how they’ve overcome so many obstacles of comprehending the game of basketball.  Coach Cable states, “ Although we have not won many games, each game we have competed in, we were granted an opportunity to win.  The most valuable thing that I love about this season is that my girls are now becoming “basketball players.”  Coach cable also had this to say about her girls, “ Mallory and Jasmine are handling the ball with more confidence.  Kenya is blocking out better and Monica is executing her post moves.  We aren’t winning a lot of games, but we aren’t losing either.  We are getting better.”

The girls will have a chance to improve their record December 8th at 5:30 when they will battle Picayune at home.
