5th Grade Quest STEM Project

The Challenge:  Students were asked to build the tallest free-standing structure they could using 50 toothpicks and 50 pieces of candy corn.  Before building, each group had to plan and explain their ideas for constructing their tower.  They also included a diagram of the structure.  After the competition, students discussed the outcome of their challenge.  Their comments focused on what worked well, what challenges they faced, and how they would improve their design.
