Work-Based Learning Student Highlight

In the realm of work-based learning (WBL), Career Development Center students have the opportunity to create and pursue their own jobs, allowing them to gain practical skills, entrepreneurial experience, and a sense of autonomy. WBL is a unique form of experiential learning that enables students to step outside the traditional classroom setting and explore their passions, interests, and career aspirations in a real-world context.

We are highlighting Lillian Phares this week as a WBL student who has owned and operated Lillian’s Culinary Treats for around two years now. For Lillian, taking the initiative to create her own business has enabled her to develop essential skills such as problem-solving, communication, resilience, and adaptability. She has also learned to manage her time effectively, seeking out opportunities for growth and taking ownership of her professional development. Through this experience ,she has gained a deeper understanding of her strengths, interests, and future career pathways, setting a strong foundation for her future success.
