Dixie Golden – PLE Staff of the Year

Mrs. Dixie Golden was nominated for Staff of the Year at Poplarville Lower Elementary this year.. She currently works as a kindergarten assistant in Mrs. Ashleigh Schubert’s classroom. She is a Poplarville High School graduate. She continued her education at PRCC. She now likes to learn more through workshops for education. She has been at PLE for 7 years and was a substitute teacher for years before she became full time.

Mrs. Dixie now resides in Poplarville where she has raised her family.  Mrs. Dixie has a husband of 27 years, Will Golden. They have 5 children, Jacob Golden (Jessie), Jennifer Sherman, Destiny Golden,Tyler Golden, and Tucker Golden. They also have three grandsons. She has been blessed to live close to her family and enjoys having extended family gatherings.

She is a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church. She enjoys watching Hornet football and band, doing crafts, playing with her dogs and spending time with friends.

Mrs. Dixie was always able to help her sister get her classroom ready for a new school year and enjoyed doing all the little things to make the first day of school fun. So when her kids got older she decided to go back to work, and the school seemed like the spot for her.  Now that she works in a classroom she loves the kids. Her goal is for every student to have a reason to smile at least once a day. She believes that every student should feel loved and important. She says the best part of her job is seeing the AHA moments. Those are the moments when a student finally understands something they have been working hard on for a while and then AHA it all makes sense to them.
