Athletic Update 11/14-18/22

Football:

Congratulations to the Poplarville Hornet Football team for beating Newton Country in the second round playoffs with a score 49-21 on Friday, Nov. 11th, 2022. They will be playing Stone County in the 3rd round of playoffs. Please read all the information below about this event.

Location: MGCCC Perkinston Campus @ A.L. May Memorial Stadium Kickoff: 7 p.m. Admission: $8 ticket at the gate or buy online using GoFan. Gates will open at 5:30. 

Visitor Parking: Visitors can park on the visitor side and enter the stadium. We have a visitor ticket gate on the visitor side. Visitors must enter on the visitor side. There is no access on the home side to the visitor side. 

Visitor Bus Parking: After offloading at the designated area indicated by the x on the map, buses will park at MGCCC Transportation. Visitor bus drivers will be directed at time of offloading. 

Special Events: No special events before the game.

Visitor buses take a right off Wire Road West into the parking lot and offload near the end of the stadium, which is noted by the x with a circle around it on the map. After drop off we will instruct you on where to park buses.

Girls basketball:

The Lady Hornets won their first game of the season last Tuesday November, 8th 2022, playing Sacred Heart, finishing with an overall score of 55-41. The Lady Hornets will travel to Stone County to play at 7:30 pm on Tuesday, November 15th, 2022. Our Lady Hornets will finish up the week playing Jefferson Davis on Thursday, November 17th, 2022  here at the Hive at 7:30 pm.

Boys Basketball:

Tuesday, November 8th, 2022, the Hornets played Sacred Heart and finished with a score of 34-53. Great game boys! On Tuesday, November 15th, we will be traveling to Stone to play them at 7:30pm. On Thursday, November 17th, we will play Jefferson Davis at the Nest at 7:30pm. Come out and support our Hornets!

Girls Soccer: 

The November 7th game against the Picayune Maroon Tide resulted in a score of 0-2. The Hancock Game on Nov. 10th resulted in a win 3-1. On November 14th the Lady Hornets will face the Hattiesburg Tigers at the Hive. The game will commence at 5:30. The November 17th game, once again facing the Picayune Maroon Tide, will take place at Picayune Memorial High School at 5:30. Come support your Hornets as they kick their way to victory!

Boys Soccer:

Last week on November 7, 2022 the boys went up against the Picayune Maroon Tide with an ending score of 0-3. On Nov. 10th the game at Hancock resulted in a win 5-2.This week Monday November 14, 2022 they will go up against the Hattiesburg Tigers at the nest, starting at 7 pm. Thursday November 17, 2022 they will travel to Picayune and go up against the Maroon Tide, starting at 7pm. Come and support the Hornets!
