Athletic Update Nov. 9-15

Football

On November 6th, PHS went head-to-head in their first playoff game against Florence at a home game. Poplarville Hornets dominated with a  victory of a score of 62-17. The Hornets will host the South Pike Eagles in the second round of the MHSAA playoffs Friday, 11/13,  at 7 pm.

Tickets will be available for participants to purchase Monday and Tuesday during break and lunch. Each participant may purchase 2 tickets. Tickets will be available for the general public to purchase Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 11:00-1:00 in the PHS office.  Remaining tickets will be available for purchase at the gate. The gate opens at 5:30 pm. Tickets for the second round of playoffs are $8 each.

Soccer:

Last week on the 3rd of November, the PHS varsity soccer team played an away game against Pearl River Central. Both teams fought hard and scored a tie 0-0.

This week soccer will play:

Monday, Nov. 9th–JV G/B and Varsity G/B @ Petal starting at 4:00 pm

Tuesday, Nov. 10th–JV girls and boys @ Pearl River Central starting at 5:30 pm

Thursday, Nov. 12th–Varsity girls and boys @ Hancock starting at 5:30 pm

Basketball:

The varsity girls and boys basketball team will play at home this week vs East Central on Tuesday, November 10th.  Tickets will be sold at the gate.  Masks are required to be worn while in the gymnasium. The girls will begin play at 6:00 pm and the boys will play at 7:30 pm. The home game scheduled for this Friday vs d’Iberville has been rescheduled.
