ARCHERY:

On March 10th our Poplarville High School Archery team will play at home against Union at 5:00

BASEBALL:

The Poplarville High School varsity baseball team played several games this past week. They started off by playing at home against Resurrection Catholic High School on Tuesday, March 3rd. The boys won with a score of 4-0. On Friday, March 6th, the boys played a double header against Meridian and Bay High. They won both games: Meridian 13-7 and Bay High: 10-2. The baseball team then traveled to McComb on Saturday, March 7th to play another double header. The boys came up with a win of 17-7 in their first game and finished with a win of 6-5. They will continue their season by playing Pope John Paul, LA at PRCC on Monday, March 9th starting at 6:00pm. They will also play at ED White Catholic High School in Thibodaux, Louisiana, time is to be announced.

POWER LIFTING:

Congratulations to the power lifting team who won overall 1st place at the Regional Meet!

Kyle Blanchard – 1st in 123 weight class

Alex Creel – 4th in 132 weight class

Conner Allen – 5th in 181 weight class

Greg Swann – 1st in 198 weight class

Tyler Knight – 3rd in 275 weight class

Seth Ladner – 6th in 275 weight class

Conner Davis – 4th in 308 weight class

Andrew Smith – 1st in 220 weight class

RODEO:

On Saturday March 6, 2020, The Poplarville High School Rodeo Team competed in the Poplarville II Rodeo in Poplarville, MS. The results are listed below:

Bareback Riding:

Gavin Lee finished in 1st place with a score of 65.0 points.

Hunter Norris finished in 2nd place

Barrel Racing:

Laken Anderson finished in 6th place with a time of 15.150 and 5.00 points

Breakaway Roping:

Brooke Ladner finished in 2nd place with a time of 3.338 and 9.00 points

Bull Riding:

Will Smith came in 7th place

Goat Tying:

Katelyn Blackmon came in 3rd place with a time of 9.072 and 8.00 points

Laken Anderson came in 5th place with a time of 9.072 and 8.00 points

Brooke Ladner came in 9th place with a time of 11.200 and 2.00 points

Steer Wrestling:

Kason Davis came in 1st place with a time of 4.559 and 10.00 points

Gavin Lee came in 3rd place with a time of 6.840 and 8.00 points

Team Roping:

Kason Davis (HD) came in 1st place with a time of 5.496 and 10.00 points

Bryce Graves (HL) came in 2nd place with a time of 5.466 and 10.00 Points\

Tie Down Roping:

Mason Theriot came in 7th place with a time of 14.797 and 4.00 points

SOFTBALL:

The Poplarville High School varsity softball team played many games this past week. They started off by playing Picayune on Monday, March 2nd. The girls came up with a win of 11-1. They continued their week by traveling to Columbia on Thursday, March 5th, winning with a final score of 9-7. They ended this week by competing in the Harrison County Tournament. They played against Northwest Rankin and lost with a score of 12-2. They finished their competition by competing against Gulf Shores and lost with a score of 13-3. The girls will continue their season by playing Lafayette County on Monday, March 9th beginning at 5:00pm and 6:30pm. The girls are also scheduled to play at Purvis on Thursday, March 12th at 5:00pm and 6:30pm. The varsity softball will finish off their week by competing at the Clarkdale Tournament. The times for this tournament will be announced closer to the date.

TENNIS: The Poplarville Highschool Tennis team has two upcoming games this week, of which neither are at home. On Monday, March 9th they will travel to Kamper Park and play against Sumrall, then they will travel to Stone on March 13th. All tennis matches begin at 4:30.
