A Celebration for Carl Merritt’s Retirement
The Poplarville community came together Tuesday, Dec. 17 to celebrate the 42 year career and retirement of Poplarville School Superintendent, Carl Merritt. The celebration was held in the PHS cafeteria where administrators, teachers, students, and the community were invited to come and express their appreciation for what Carl Merritt has accomplished and the lives he has touched through his employment and leadership as superintendent. All were given the opportunity to sign their names around a picture of Mr. Merritt as a way of remembrance of the lives he has touched. “Oh the stories I could tell”, responded Mr. Merritt with a smile to his congratulations. With the large turn out and the smiles on the faces of many who attended, it is clear we all have memories of Mr. Merritt we will cherish. Happy Retirement Carl Merritt.
