PHS Basketball Clinch 2 Victories

The Poplarville High School Student Section showed up and helped cheer both teams to victory on Tuesday, January 24th.  Varsity Girls and Varsity Boys faced Sumrall at home on Tuesday night.

The Girls came away with a close score of 48-46 over Sumrall.  Jasmine Merrill led the Lady Hornets with 14 points and 8 rebounds; followed by Zanaisha Turner with 14 points and 7 rebounds and Mallory Smith with 11 points and 6 rebounds.  Senior Kenya Tillman led the defense with 5 rebounds and 3 blocks.

The Boys secured their win by twenty points with a final score of 68-48.  Richard Patton was the leading scorer of the night with 17 points and 8 rebounds; followed by Tamiljah Merrill with 13 points and 5 rebounds, Caanan Ray with 14 points and Trey Griffin with 12 points and 6 rebounds.

The next game will be Friday, January 27th at Greene County.  Varsity Girls at 6. Varsity Boys at 7.
