TSA4 members recently took a trip to Jackson to attend the Crossroads Film Festival, which focuses on burgeoning writers, directors, and actors in Mississippi. During the festival, students viewed films made in Mississippi, such as James Franco’s movie The Sound and the Fury, which is adapted from a William Faulkner novel, and a new movie called The Hollars that was filmed in Jackson and Brookhaven. Cast and crewmembers of the various films were also in attendance, and students had the opportunity to ask them questions about the creative process, film production, and how to become involved in moviemaking. On the final day, the students attended various workshops, covering subjects such as young filmmakers and makeup for film, and attended more screenings of short films. The students greatly enjoyed the experience and witnessed firsthand the creative expression available in the film industry.
