PHS Soccer Shutting Down Rivals

Poplarville High School Boys Soccer Team faced their rivals, the Pearl River County Blue Devils, Friday, December 4th in Carriere.  The Hornets came out on top when Ethan Glasscock made a penalty kick to bring the final score to 1-0.  This would be the Hornets third win over the PRC Devils out of the four matchups this season.  So far this season, the Hornets record stands at 7-2-(1 tie).  They have scored 24 goals and have only had 5 goals scored against them. Austin Carter has 6 shutouts and 49 saves.  Derrick Houston leads the team with 7 goals.  The Hornets start district Friday, December 11th against Green County.

Poplarville High School Girls Soccer Team were also victorious over the PRC Blue Devils with a score of 2-1.  So far this season, the girls stand at 7-2-(1 tie).  They have scored 28 goals and have had 12 goals scored against them.  Kaitlyn Barber has 3 shutouts and 63 saves.  Merissa Myrick and Mallory Nuccio lead the team with 8 goals each.  The girls also start district Friday, December 11th at Green County.

The season is going good so far, both teams are working extremely hard.  The girls are looking to improve and give themselves a chance in district play and working towards a playoff game.  The boys are battling through some difficult times after losing some key team members for a period of time. Nick Hines and Ethan Mcintyre are out with injuries.  Both teams are competing and working hard to get back into the playoffs after last years success.
