On Wednesday, October 8, 2014, students at Poplarville Upper Elementary were visited by members of the Poplarville Fire Department. This presentation was provided for P. U. E. students to promote awareness during the nationally recognized Fire Prevention Week. The students learned valuable lessons about avoiding flammable substances as well as ways to avoid burns such as not using stoves, microwaves, matches, or candles without adult supervision. Students also learned about the importance of having a plan with their family in case of a fire in their home and what to do if their clothes were to catch on fire.
