Just a Journalist

While Alex Moraski stays busy as an editor and journalist of The Picayune Item, he made time to visit Mrs. Mayfield’s journalism class to speak to her students about his career and the impact of journalism in today’s society.

Mr. Moraski, a graduate of Santa Fe College in Gainesville and the University of Florida, spoke to the class about his journey from a new graduate to one of The Picayune Item’s most prominent journalists. The class learned about the qualities of strong writers and the ethical dilemmas that editors face as they navigate through stories.

While Mr. Moraski’s job calls for tough decisions and stressful situations, he admitted he loves what he does.

Students were given exceptional advice to aid in the making of The Buzz and will be integrating his suggestions into the newspaper.
