PUE’s Tyner Presents Tobacco Awareness at Farm Safety Day

Poplarville Upper Elementary School nurse, Julie Tyner, participated in Farm Safety Day on May 10, 2018.  Fifth grade students at PUE participate in this annual awareness event coordinated by the MSU Extension office.  Varying safety and awareness information is shared with the students by presenters from the local community. Presentations include topics such as ATV and boat safety, large animal safety, firearm and electric safety, and drug/alcohol awareness.  Nurse Tyner presented information on tobacco awareness. Her discussion included the types of tobacco, the many chemicals found in tobacco including nicotine, and the many health hazards that are present for tobacco users.
