Clay Garrett Selected for Youth Leadership Program

Clay Garrett of Poplarville High School was one of six high school students selected to represent Coast Electric Power Association at the annual Youth Leadership Workshop in Jackson this past February and the Youth Leadership Tour in Washington, D.C. this past June. In Jackson, the students participated in team-building exercises, enhanced their leadership skills, and visited with their state legislators.  The group of 66 Mississippi High School Students then joined some 1600 teens from across the nation for the weeklong rural electric youth tour in Washington, D.C. where they visited many of our nation's historic landmarks and met with Mississippi's senators and representatives.

Youth Tour is a rich, once-in-a-lifetime experience for every student who participates. Each student is sponsored by his or her local electric cooperative, earning the trip in a competitive process.

Clay Garrett is the son of Brad and Sonya Garrett of Poplarville. He is currently a senior at Poplarville High School.
