Name the Hornet

The Poplarville School District PTO (Parent Teacher Organization) held the first ever “Name the Hornet” contest.  The hornet mascot position was created to promote school spirit and represent the student body.  Poplarville High School students were required to possess a 2.5 grade point average along with two teacher recommendations before applying.

The PTO selected 4 PHS students out of the many applicants, who will alternate duties throughout the year.  Richard Patton, Dawson Brown, Lisa Wright and Brett Corbello were picked to wear the new costume purchased by our PTO.  The Hornet will be used throughout the district,  and will appear at sporting events, parades, festivals, community events and other special activities.

Check out the facebook page, “Hometown Hype”, to follow The Hornet.  You never know where he might show up.
