Middle School of Poplarville Track Spotlight
The Middle School of Poplarville is proud to recognize 7th grade standout, Marley Smith, for an impressive track and field season highlighted by her qualification for the Mississippi Junior High State Track Meet.
Marley earned her spot at the state meet in both the 1600m and 3200m events, showcasing her endurance, consistency, and competitive drive throughout the season.
She delivered a dominant performance in the 3200m this year, recording four 1st place finishes across the season. Her top performance came at the Conference Championships, where she captured 1st place with a personal best time of 13:41.77 — a new school record.
In the 1600m, Marley proved to be just as competitive, earning three top-three finishes during the season, including a personal best time of 6:06.75, set at the State Track Meet — also a new school record.
In addition to her distance events, Marley competed in the 800m, where she posted a personal best of 2:56.88, marking her third school record performance of the season.
With her qualification this year, Marley became only the 6th student-athlete in school history to represent the Middle School of Poplarville at the State Track Meet — a testament to her hard work, discipline, and dedication.
Marley’s success is also a reflection of the leadership and guidance of Coach Bingham, whose commitment, encouragement, and push for excellence have played a key role in her development throughout the season.
Marley’s record-setting year not only highlights her individual success but also sets a new standard for Poplarville athletics. The future is bright, and we look forward to watching her continued growth in the years ahead.
