Gaynell Sones-PLE Staff of the Year

🎉 PLE Staff of the Year: Mrs. Gaynell Sones! 🎉

Poplarville Lower Elementary is proud to announce that Gaynell Sones is PLE’s Staff of the Year for 2025-2026! She has dedicated 28 years to the Poplarville School District, where her passion for teaching and commitment to students have made a lasting impact. Mrs. Gaynell holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s Degree in Secondary Education, graduating magna cum laude from William Carey University. She is married to Larry Sones Jr. of Poplarville, and together they have two sons, Justin (Lacey) and Seth Sones, and are proud grandparents to seven wonderful grandchildren. Outside the classroom, Gaynell enjoys traveling and cherishing time spent with her family.

Known affectionately as “the mom of Kindergarten Hall,” Mrs. Gaynell brings warmth, guidance, and kindness to everyone around her. She is an invaluable member of the PLE family.
As our SPED Inclusion Teacher for Kindergarten, Mrs. Gaynell goes above and beyond every single day to meet the unique needs of her students. She spends countless hours working one-on-one with children, providing them with the care, patience, and individualized support they deserve. Her ability to meet every child where they are and help them grow with love and encouragement is what sets her apart!

Mrs. Gaynell’s impact extends far beyond her classroom walls. She is always there to lend a helping hand to teachers and staff, whether it’s offering instructional support, sharing resources, or simply being a listening ear. Her colleagues describe her as a true team player, someone who consistently lifts others and creates a positive, nurturing environment for all.

Congratulations, Mrs. Gaynell! You truly embody what it means to be Staff of the Year!
