Indy Discon-PLE Teacher of the Year

🎉 PLE Teacher of the Year: Mrs. Indy Discon! 🎉

Poplarville Lower Elementary is proud to announce that Indy Discon is PLE’s Teacher of the Year for 2025-2026!

Mrs. Indy is celebrating her 15th year in education, with 14 wonderful years in Kindergarten and 1 year in First Grade—all spent right here at PLE. She is a graduate of Pearl River Central High School and began her college journey at PRCC before transferring to The University of Southern Mississippi, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education.

Mrs. Indy loves spending time with her family and friends, and she and her family enjoy going on vacations together and creating new memories. She has been married to Matt Discon for 12 years and is the proud mom of two daughters, Marli and Murphy.

She is also deeply grateful for her Kindergarten team and cherished colleagues, who she says make each school year meaningful and memorable.

Mrs. Indy’s classroom is a true reflection of her heart: structured, supportive, and full of encouragement. She meets every student where they are, celebrating their strengths while helping them overcome challenges. She brings a spunky, joyful energy to her classroom… making learning fun, engaging, and meaningful for all of her students. Her students are not only excited to learn but also feel safe, respected, and deeply valued in her care.

Her colleagues describe her as compassionate, collaborative, and always willing to lend a helping hand. She models what it means to see and support every child, no matter their challenges. She leads by example, showing that great teaching is not just about lessons and standards, but about relationships, trust, and heart.

Congratulations, Mrs. Indy! You are so deserving of the title Teacher of the Year!
