Career Development Center Hosts Adult Academy

CDC Hosts Adult Academy–  The CDC hosted an “Adult Academy” where students learned life skills from community leaders.  Students moved from room to room learning skills they may not receive in traditional academic classes . They were able to have  hands-on experiences and a lot of question/ answer time with the speakers. The students had a great time! 

Guest speakers were-

Nance Stokes, Pearl River County Circuit Clerk, explained Civic Duties and registered students to vote.

Mike Patten, Pearl River County Prosecuting Attorney, gave tips for good interview and job skills.

Glo Travis, Poplarville High School employee, taught basic ironing and sewing skills including hemming pants and sewing on buttons.

Whitney Cuevas R.N. played Medical Trivia with the students to teach every day medical practices.

Officer Chris McKinnis taught what to do and not to do during a traffic stop and answered many questions!
