2022 Special Olympics

On Thursday, April 7, 2022, students from Poplarville School District participated in the Special Olympics, sponsored by The Kiwanis Club of Picayune, at Picayune Memorial High School football stadium.  Students from PLE, PUE, MSP, and PHS participated in one track event and one field event.  Congratulations to our athletes! They did an amazing job representing the Poplarville School District.

PLE

Zach – participated in the 50 m dash & tennis ball throw

PUE

Mathew- 1st place 50 m dash & 1st place tennis ball throw

AJ – 2nd Place 50 m dash & 2nd place tennis ball throw

Colt –  3rd place 50 m dash & 2nd place tennis ball throw

Nicole – 3rd place 50 m dash & 1st place tennis ball throw

Jason – Medal for being a wonderful cheerleader for his classmates

MSP-

Merishca – 3rd place tennis ball throw & participated in the 100 m dash

PHS

Madison – 3rd place in 50-yard dash & 2nd place softball throw

Elijah – 1st place in long jump & 3rd place 100-meter dash

Zarian – 1st place in 50 m wheelchair race & 1st Place in tennis throw

Maven –  3rd place tennis ball throw & participated in the 100 m dash

We also had a group of 16 PHS students go as our athletes’ “Buddies”.  Their job was to help ensure the athletes got to each event, help athletes get their lunches and help load/unload the bus. They did a wonderful job of cheering and encouraging our athletes. We would like to send a special thank you to our “Buddies” – Sarah, Josey, Rayelin, Audi, Olivia, Maria, Donovan, Lane, Anna Kate, Lilli, Tucker, Cole, Sammi, Morgan, Mark & Matt.
