ARCHERY

On February 20th, our Poplarville High School Archery team will take part in a tournament, hosted in the Poplarville Middle School gym against Hancock. All archery meets start at 5:00. On the 11th of February, our archery team had a meet at home against Picayune which resulted in our team coming up short by only 13 points. Congratulations to our top 4 girls and boys: Maya Clark, Zoe Farve, Sarah Bolin, Kali Lodrigues, Seth McMurray, Kirk Shiveley, Daniel Hennes, and Brennan Goodwin.

BASEBALL

Feb 15, the Poplarville Hornets Baseball team held a jamboree at 5:00 pm to start the sesason. This week, February 18th, the Hornets Baseball team played a double header against Florence at the PRCC. The first game was at 5:00 pm and the second game was at 7:00 pm. Sadly the Poplarville Hornets lost both games. The score for the first game was 7-0, and the second game was 11-1. The upcoming games are scheduled against Bay High at 6:00 pm on February 22nd and a home game against Laurel at 5:00 and 7:00 pm on February 25th. We hope to see everyone there supporting and showing love to our Poplarville Hornets.

BASKETBALL

The Poplarville High School boys basketball team traveled to Florence on Tuesday February 18, 2020. Unfortunately, the team lost by several points. PHS Basketball boys ended with a score of 97-56. In addition, Poplarville High School will be the host for the quarter-finals MHSAA basketball tournament which will be held February 27-29 at PRCC.

SOFTBALL

Poplarville High School girls varsity softball team kicked off their season with their annual Meet the Lady Hornets on Monday, February 17th. The girls will continue their season by playing a non-conference game against Bay High School in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi on Thursday, February 20th starting at 6:30. They will continue by traveling to Picayune High School on Monday, February 24th, starting their game at 12:00pm.

RODEO

On Friday February 14, 2020, The Poplarville High School Rodeo Team traveled to Purvis, MS and competed in the MJHSRA II Rodeo. The results are listed below:

Bareback Riding:

Hunter Norris finished in 1st place.

Breakaway Roping:

Laken Anderson finished in 4th place with a time of 3.683 and 7.00 points.

Dylan Traylor finished in 5th place with a time of 4.064 and 6.00 points.

Bull Riding:

Will Smith finished in 3rd place.

Tie Down Roping:

Kason Davis finished in 1st place with a time of 10.828 and 10.00 points.

Team Roping:

Kason Davis ended in 3rd place with a time of 6.547 and 9.00 points.

Bryce Graves ended in 4th place with a time of 6.547 and 9.00 points.

Steer Wrestling:

Gavin Lee ended in 1st place with a time of 6.438 and 10.00 points.

Pole Bending:

Dylan Traylor ended in 5th place with a time of 22.127 and 6.00 points.

Goat Tying:

Katelyn Blackmon ended in 4th place with a time of 10.142 and 7.00 points

Brooke Ladner ended in 6th place with a time of 10.310 and 5.00 points.
