Friday Night Football

The Poplarville Hornets had their first game of the season on Friday against the Picayune Maroon Tide. The game had many ups and downs for the team. The 1st quarter had a score of 10-0 with the Hornets trailing. In the 2nd quarter, our Hornets were able to make a touchdown while the Tide grew and added another 10 points to the scoreboard. Therefore, by the end of the 2nd quarter the score was 20-7 with the Hornets still on the bottom. However, with the first half out of the way our team weakened the Tide and scored another touchdown, along with a perfect extra point kick. With a 3rd quarter score of 20-14 the Hornets had hope to beat the Tide and take home a win. The Maroon Tide scored another touchdown and an extra 2 points in the beginning of the last quarter. Our Hornets fought hard and earned another touchdown in the last minutes of the 4th quarter. In the end we came up short with a score of 28-20. The Hornets fought long and hard at the game and came back swinging in the 2nd half. Support the team this Friday, August 24th, at PRC and show your Hornet Pride!
