2nd graders in Mrs. Holly Johnson’s Quest class have been growing a spring garden and learning all about what it takes to raise fresh and healthy vegetables. The garden contains tomatoes, lettuce, spinach, yellow squash, collards, cabbage, bell peppers, and a variety of herbs. The garden has helped students see first hand where real food comes from. As an end of the year harvest celebration, the students came together and created their own salad. The students were so impressed with how fresh the salad tasted, and how easy it was to grow the vegetables themselves. We’re looking forward to continuing to grow seasonal vegetables in our garden each year, and raise awareness for healthy lifestyles.
