The Hornet Offense racked up 415 yards of total offense Friday night as Poplarville came out victorious for the second week in a row.    Sophomore Quarterback Antonio Barnes lit it up Friday night passing for 121 yards and 3 TDs.  Barnes threw TD passes to 3 separate Hornet receivers; Canaan Ray – 3 catches 44 yards 1 TD, Evan Smith – 1 catch 25 yards 1 TD, and Austin Bolton 2 catches 30 yards 1 TD.  While Barnes was spreading the ball around, Senior Fullback and Pearl River Community College commit, Jesse Pernell had another typical night scoring 3 TDs on the ground.  Seniors Turan Smith and Camden Ray led the team with 6 and 8 tackles respectively.  The Hornet Defense controlled the Lumberton ground game for most of the night with the exception of a few long runs.  Nick Kirschbaum finished the night 5/6 on PATs and added the final score with a field goal.

There couldn't be a more exciting home opener than the one we have in store Friday night.  The Hornets will host their friendly neighbors just down Hwy 26 East as the Stone County Tomcats come to Poplarville.  The Tomcats have enjoyed much success this year as they have jumped out to a 3-0 start for the first time in 26 years.  Stone County is a power run football team that has racked up 950 rushing yards in just 3 games while the Hornets have rushed for 953 on the season.  Come out and support the Hornets as they take on Stone County.  Kickoff is set for 7:00.
