Hornets Outlast the Devils

The Poplarville Hornet Football team did something Friday night that the last few teams couldn’t….. Beat PRC.  The Hornets started off strong throwing a huge blow as Hornet Fullback Jesse Pernell took the opening play of the game 69 yards for the TD.  The Hornet Offense was very productive in moving the football for the majority of the game, only being forced to punt once.  Juniors Peyton Graham and Austin Bolton scored the final two TDs of the contest.  Austin Bolton was the big gainer of the night rushing for 156 yards on 17 carries.  The Defensive Line and Linebackers stood out for Poplarville as the Blue Devils were unable to locate open holes to run through all night.  Nick Kirschbaum was the hero of the night kicking a game winning 38 yard field goal with 12 seconds remaining on the clock.  Nick was also 3 of 3 on PATs.  The Hornets will travel to Lumberton this week to take on another arch rival.  Game time is set for 7:00.
