Poplarville to Renew Old Rivalry Friday

The Poplarville Hornets will face a familiar foe in the second round of playoffs Friday at Hornet Field.  The St. Stanislaus Rockachaws and the Hornets were District 8-4A opponents from 2005 through 2014.  Both teams have played some tight contest in recent years.  In 2012 the Hornets broke school records for rushing yards, total yards and points in a single game in route to a historical 82-80 win.  The next season St. Stanislaus took the victory 48-41 at Hornet Field.  Last season the Hornets traveled to St. Stanislaus and took a 47-46 win in OT versus the number one ranked team in 4A.

The Rockachaws are 8-3 and finished number one in District 8-4A this season, a title that Poplarville brought home last year.  St. Stanislaus advanced to the second round by defeating the Quitman Panthers 47-20 last week.

Kickoff will be at 7:00 Friday at Hornet Field.  Hope to see you there rooting for the Hornets as the quest for the school’s first ever State Championship continues.
