PHS Hornets Take District Title

The Hornets took care of business Friday night taking a 41-29 decision against Bay High.  The win cemented the Hornets as the #1 seed representing District 8-4A in the state playoff system.  Having the #1 seed ensures Poplarville a home playoff game.  The Hornets will host the #4 seed from District 6 on November 7th.
 
The Hornets found themselves behind at half time 22-21, but came out the second half and outscored their opponent 20-7.  The Hornet offense found the endzone 6 times on their way to 390 yards of total offense.  All 3 Poplarville running backs scored touchdowns.  Anthony Martin scored the first touchdown.  Jesse Pernell had 18 carries for 141 yards and scored 2 touchdowns.  Malik Lucas showed up on this big night rushing for 166 yards on 19 carries and 3 scores.  The Hornets travel to Vancleave for the final regular season game of the year.
