CTE Students Honored at School Board Meeting

Seven Career & Technical Education students were honored at the April School Board meeting for their achievements in advancing to National Competitions. The HOSA students who will travel to Nasville, TN to compete in the International HOSA Conference include:
 
Kymberly Mitchell and Zachery Rice in CPR and First Aid. At the competition, these students will have to respond to a mock emergency situation. They will have to access the situation, decide on a treatment, and take action. The scenerios could range from a heart attack to cuts and bruises.  
 
Kolby Havard and Madlin Reed will compete in Community Awareness. These two students suddenly changed the focus of their topic prior to state competition following the death of a fellow classmate in a drunk driving accident.  They are working hard to establish a SAD chapter at Poplarville High School as a result.
 
The DECA National Conference will also be located in Nashville, TN and the following students will be representing Poplarville:
 
Andrew Howard and Kayla Hughes will compete in a Learn and Earn Project with the primary goal focusing on inventory control. Andrew wrote a computer program to keep track of inventory for the DECA store.
 
Destiny Golden will compete in an Entrepreneurship Promotion Project. Prior to the state conference, Destiny and Chloe Smith wrote a paper and taught lessons in the STEM classroom for three days pertaining to promoting entrepreneurship.
